Young mums can continue to learn as Southend Adult Community College keeps up the Passport 2 Learn courses for 16 – 19 year olds who are not studying or employed.
The young parent's course has been well attended. Several young mums are continuing their learning in September, and are keen to let other young parents know about all the courses on offer starting now.
Holly Lippold, course coordinator says: "There are choices of sessions and you can attend whatever suits you. On Wednesdays we work at improving English and Maths to try and get qualifications that can help you to get a college place or a job.
"During the Thursday session we plan to make pottery to sell, learn how to put together a business plan along the way and have lots of fun. We will also try other activities throughout the year including photography, theatre skills and dance.
Executive Councillor for Children and Learning, Councillor Rodger Hadley says: "Southend Adult Community College in Ambleside Drive has such a bright and friendly atmosphere. I do hope more of our young mums and dads will give it a try. Help with child care may also be available."
