Why not virtually visit our new pool?

This unique video enables viewers to see all aspects of the spectacular new centre as if they were inside the building.

It gives everyone a preview of the premises which are currently nearing completion at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Garon Park, Southend.

The video can now be seen on Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's website www.southend.gov.uk/pooldevelopment, on the electronic notice board in Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend; in the foyer at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Garon Park, off Eastern Avenue,Southend; and - from tomorrow, Saturday 18th September, at Warriors Swim Centre, Warrior Square, Southend.

Those watching it will be taken on a virtual tour of the new swimming pool with world class diving facilities. There they can 'visit' the:

• 25 metre 8 lane competition pool.
• World Class diving pool with 3m, 5m, 7.5m and 10m platforms, each being 3m wide for synchronised diving, plus two 1m springboards and two 3m springboards and a 1m platform of normal diving width.
• Diving pool (with movable floor to enable swimming lessons/exercise classes to take place, as well as a water agitation and air cushion system.),/li>

Other features of the new pool include:

• Dry diving training with harness and trampolines.
• Tiered seating overlooking 25m pool - 240 fixed seats and 32 standard or 16 wheelchair spaces and along the length of the dive pool 134 fixed seats + 16 standard spaces or 8 wheelchair spaces.
• Provision of a 'splash' and bubble pool with spectator area.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis says "This 3D video is a marvellous way to get the feel of our terrific new Southend Swimming and Diving Centre. I encourage as many people as possible to take a look. It really is most inviting, and now it won't be too long to be able to experience the real thing, as we are on track to open the new pool soon."
