The biggest event in Southend’s sporting calendar is coming up - The Southend-on-Sea Sports Awards 2010.
Theses awards celebrate and recognise the very best in sport in Southend-on-Sea - including those who participate, support its provision and invest personally in its ongoing development.
There are number of awards available for nominations, including:
- Sports Personality of the Year
- Young Sports Personality
- Olympic Hopeful
- Paralympic Hopeful
- Service to Sport
- Young Community Volunteer
- Community Club of the Year
- Coach of the Year
Activesouthend, which is organising the awards, is pleased to confirm that Danny Crates, Paralympic Gold Medallist, will be attending the event to present the awards at 7.30pm on Monday 1st November 2010 at the Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff.
This event is part of Southend's Legacy 2012, with the ceremony forming part of the recognition pathway up to County, Regional and National BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
Councillor Derek Jarvis, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture says: "This is a great way for someone you may know in the community to get the recognition they deserve.
"So if you know a club leader, trainer, or an enthusiastic young athlete, then why not consider nominating them!"
