It's time to put on your dancing shoes as Southend’s Big Dance Day looms.

People heading down to Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre in Garon Park, Southend, at 10am on Sunday 17th October will be offered short classes in Street Dance, Zumba, Bollywood, Salsa, Flamenco, African Dance, Break Dance and also sessions in Tai Chi, Pilates and Yoga. This event is supported by Southend's Legacy 2012.

Southend's Big Dance Day is part of 'Out of the Box', Southend's multicultural festival in October. It offers anyone, of any age the chance to try out a wide range of dance classes and taster sessions.

There is one charge for entry of £2.50 which entitles entrants to take part in any or all of the classes throughout the day.

Each class is directed by experienced and qualified dance instructors who can give advice on where future classes can be found. No experience is necessary and participants can drop in and out of sessions throughout the day.

Councillor Derek Jarvis, Executive Councillor for Culture, said: "This event will allow people to try something new, with such a wide variety of dances on offer.

"There will be something for everyone of all ages, from five to 105! So why not give it a go!"
