Your Southend, Your Say

Can you help us plan next year’s budget? What do YOU think are the most important things we should spend our money on?
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is currently inviting residents to answer key questions like these and tell us what Council services they value most, what they think the Council could do less of and whether they have any ideas about how we could do things differently.
Residents are being encouraged to make their views heard by completing a survey, either online at www.southend.gov.uk/budgetconsultation (Please note, the above web links have now expired) or by returning the hard-copy of the survey included in the latest edition of the Council's residents' magazine Outlook.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Leader, Councillor Nigel Holdcroft, said: "In common with Councils throughout the country we are facing stark choices over which services we fund in the future following the commitment by the new Coalition Government to significantly reduce public sector funding.
"We are committed to listening and learning from our residents, so we want to give you the chance to have your say on our future spending plans. The views expressed in this consultation will inform our priorities for the next three years and, in turn, how the Council spends its money.
"We hope residents will take this opportunity to become involved and shape the Southend of the future."
The survey will close on 31 October 2010.
