Southend residents who support someone with a learning disability are invited to attend an event being held in the town on Thursday 7th October.
The Learning Disability Fair will take place on the first floor foyer of Southend Civic Centre in Victoria Avenue from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm and to showcase the wide range of support available in the Borough for service users and carers.
Among the organisations and services represented will be Adult Placement, the Alzheimer's Society, Community Team for People with a Learning Disability ( CTPLD ), Colleges, the Council's Culture and Housing teams, Mencap, Self-Directed Support, Supporting People, South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) and advocacy organisations specialising in people with learning difficulties such as Batias and Shields.
There will also be a chance to view the proposed new Learning Disability Partnership Board website.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Corporate Director for Adult and Community Services, Simon Leftley, said: "This fair is an excellent opportunity for those who care for someone with a learning disability to find out in one place about the wide variety of help and services available to them. Experts will be on hand to speak about how particular needs can be accommodated."
