Carriageway resurfacing – Whitehouse Road

Published Friday 28th May 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Due to a substantial deterioration of the carriageway, resurfacing works will be carried out along Whitehouse Road in Southend-on-Sea to provide a stronger and smoother road surface.

The work is expected to take a week to complete and will be carried out between 9am and 6pm, subject to weather conditions, from Tuesday 1st June onwards.

Access for residents and through traffic will be maintained during the works by the use of 'Stop' and 'Go' manually-operated boards or temporary traffic lights.

Councillor Mark Flewitt, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Planning and Transport, said the resurfacing work would benefit residents.

He said: "This work will benefit the residents of Whitehouse Road because the new surface will be so much smoother and noise pollution from passing traffic will be greatly reduced as a result."

Residents are kindly requested not to park their vehicles in the road while work is taking place so as not to cause an obstruction.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council would like to apologise in advance to residents for any inconvenience caused while the works are carried out.
