Southend waste collections – the latest

Published Wednesday 1st December 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council would like to draw the attention of residents to the following information regarding waste collections during the current spell of bad weather.

During the current adverse conditions please present pink recycling sacks, blue food waste bins and black refuse sacks for collection as normal at the boundary of your property, or at your usual collection point, on your scheduled collection day.

If your waste does not get collected on your scheduled collection day we will endeavour to collect it as soon as it is operationally practicable to do so.

This may mean that residents do not have their sacks collected until the following week's scheduled collection.

Tony Cox, Executive Councillor for Waste and Public Protection, said: "Our crews have been working really hard to deal with waste collections despite the severe weather.

"However, because of the hazardous conditions currently hampering our waste collection vehicles, some residents may not have their sacks collected until next week.

"We ask people to bear with us during this difficult period, and we hope to resume our regular waste collection schedule as soon as we possibly can."
