Southend-on-Sea’s Sport Relief Mile is just two weeks away and it is set to be an unforgettable day.

Hundreds of local people have already signed up for the event on Sunday 21stMarch, at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Garon Park, so if you're interested in getting involved be sure to enter quickly.

Amy Wright, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Sport and Physical Activity Development Officer said: "The Southend-on-Sea Mile is set to be an amazing day. It's fantastic that so many people of Southend are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2010.

"But we want this to be the best Sport Relief event yet, so we still need more people to raise their game, enter the Southend-on-Sea Mile and join us to raise plenty of cash!"

With three distances to choose from there is a challenge for all ages and abilities; from teeny tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock, there's something for everyone on the big day.

By getting involved and raising sponsorship for the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile you're helping to make a big difference. The money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to help transform lives here in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.

Sport Relief has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge. Last summer Eddie Izzard set an incredible standard by running an amazing 43 marathons in 51 days around the UK.

This year there is a variety of amazing celebrity challenges to get the whole nation geared up for the Sport Relief Weekend, from David Walliams and friends on the BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride, to Helen Skelton's Amazing Amazon Adventure, to Christine Bleakley's Thomson Sport Relief Waterski Challenge.

If you're interested and want to enter the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile please sign up at www.sportrelief.com.
