Cuckoo Corner traffic lights
Published Tuesday 1st February 11 in Council - news and information releases news
New ‘smart’ traffic signals being installed as part of the Cuckoo Corner junction improvements will be switched on at 11am tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd February).
Although the lights will be functioning, further work needs to take place before they will be able to operate at their full capacity.
These works include lane closures to enable contractors to cut detection loops into the carriageway which will monitor traffic flow and feed information back to the lights.
The Council asks carriageway users to be patient whilst this 'fine tuning' of the lights takes place and to approach the junction with care.
Drivers, motorcyclists and pedal cyclists are advised to obey speed limits at the junction, which are there to protect road users as well as contractors.
From tomorrow (Wed) pedestrians will also be able to use the new crossing, which has been moved closer to the Cuckoo Corner roundabout.
