Now is the time to register for this year’s charity Swimathon at the Southend Swimming and Diving Centre in Garon Park.
This event - the world's biggest fundraising swim - is in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and takes place this year on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April.
Southend Swimming and Diving Centre is one of more than 580 pools taking part nationwide.
Money raised will be used to help Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses give free nursing care to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in the place of their choice.
Swimmers have until Wednesday 6th April to enter for the Swimathon, which runs from 3pm on Saturday 9th April and 10am on Sunday 10th April.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis, said: "The Swimathon is a fantastic event which brings the community together for a most enjoyable challenge in aid of a vital charity.
"Swimming is proven to be great exercise whatever your ability. It helps relax the mind and body and helps build endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness, so we hope as many people as possible will join this year's Swimathon.
"Swimmers can opt for distance challenges such as 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k, so now's the time to start training."
