The next 12-week course for children aged six months to three years starts on Monday 28th March at the pool in Fairview Gardens , Off Eaton Road, Leigh, and costs £45.60.

Classes, lasting half an hour each, are on Mondays at 12noon and 1pm, and Thursdays at 11.30am and 12.30pm.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis, said: "It is important for youngsters to get used to water at a young age, especially in an area so close to the sea.

"These classes offer a great opportunity for children to learn different water skills towards helping them to swim.

"They gain water confidence in a fun environment, supported by a qualified swimming teacher and with other parents and children of a similar age."
