Published Monday 21st March 11 in Council - news and information releases news

Southend councillors have ratified the proposed Land and Leasing Arrangements for Southend Airport which were passed at a specially convened meeting held last week.

The proposals, which limit the number of night flights permissible at the airport, were originally passed by councillors at a special meeting of the full council held on Tuesday 15th March.

But they still had to be formally voted on by Cabinet and referred to the Economic and Environmental Scrutiny Committee before being sent back to another special meeting of the full council for final approval, all of which took place tonight (Monday 21st March).

The proposals were carried by 39 votes to four, with two abstentions and two no votes (the Mayor and Deputy Mayor).
