Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has worked extremely hard to ensure that the four Better Southend schemes are delivered on schedule.
This has been the Council's goal despite the very challenging timescales imposed by the Government and the complexity of the individual projects.
The Progress Road , Cuckoo Corner and City Beach schemes have all been delivered on time.
Unfortunately the Council has been let down at the last moment by the contractors working on the Victoria Gateway scheme and some paving work still remains to be done.
Every effort has been made to ensure as much of the scheme as possible can be opened to the public today (Fri) but some areas will remain fenced off while this paving work is completed.
The highway works for Victoria Gateway have been completed for some time and the Government funding for all four schemes is secured.
