Need some help with buying a child’s car seat?
Why not visit the drop-in advice centre held on the first Tuesday of every month, term time only at
Blenheim Children's Centre, Blenheim Chase, Leigh from 9.15am - 10.30am.
A trained member of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Road Safety Team will be there to give impartial advice on fitting and use of car seats.
The Council's Head of Planning and Transport, Andrew Meddle, said: "We have introduced this drop-in session to help residents find the correct seat to keep their child safe and legal, when travelling in the car."
In September 2006 the law changed, making it an offence for children under 12 years of age or 135cm in height to travel in a car without the appropriate restraint.
Not every car seat fits every car so if you are unsure which one is right for your car why not visit the FREE Try Before you Buy Child Car Seat Safety Centre at Lubards Farm, Hullbridge Road, Rayleigh, SS6 9QG, open Fridays 9.30am - 2.30pm, or telephone 07766 423797.
