Bid now for a Carers Grant

Carers are set to gain further help with the prospect of extra cash being made available for their support groups.

Organisations can apply for a grant to assist their work up until 4.45pm on Thursday 28thApril.

Eligible groups include formally constituted voluntary or community organisations or local private and statutory agencies.

Their projects will be judged on their individual merits, on the contribution they make to the community, and on how they meet the priorities outlined in Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Draft Carers Strategy 2010-12.

Applications are welcomed from Southend-based organisations or those which are able to demonstrate how Southend residents will benefit from their work.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Head of Community Strategy & Development, Jacqui Lansley, said: "These grants will help the borough continue to develop personalised, innovative and high quality carers services.

"We want to build on the good work we have achieved so far in partnership with carers, voluntary organisations, the NHS and other statutory agencies."

Completed applications with all supporting documents must be received at Southend Borough Council, Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, SS2 6ER by 4.45pm on Thursday 28th April.
