Southend votes 'No' to AV

Voters in Southend delivered a resounding 'No' to the Alternative Vote system in Thursday's historic referendum.
Those in favour of AV casted 13,488 votes, but the 'No' vote amounted to 34,365.
There were 254 rejected papers and the turnout was 38.3 per cent.
Southend was one of the first councils in the eastern region to return its voting figures for the referendum.
