Our Adizone wins Olympic accolade

The popular outdoor gym, Adizone in Shoebury is the first in Britain to be awarded the coveted Inspire Mark
This is the official badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme, which recognises innovative and exceptional projects directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Southend's Adizone project uses the inspiration from the 2012 Games to run supervised community events at the facility, based in Shoebury Park , and available to all in the borough.
To celebrate the Inspire Mark achievement, a special event is planned at the Adizone at the park in Elm Road , Shoebury from 10.45am on Tuesday 17th May.
Paralympic Gold Medallist Danny Crates will be attending and children from St George's Primary School , Shoebury, will be put through their paces on the Adizone by staff from Southend East Schools Sports Partnership, led by their Partnership Development Manager, Kirk Edwards, as well as staff from Southend United Community and Educational Trust and the Great Outdoor Gym Company.
Seb Coe, who chairs the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said: "The Southend Adizone Project is encouraging local people to fulfil their potential.
"I am proud that with the help of partners such as Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, we are delivering on our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in sport and health-related activities."
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "It is a great honour for the Council to achieve the first Inspire Mark for an Adizone project.
"We are delivering an energetic programme that engages young people into physical activity and provides a platform for them to share this locally. This is helping build a strong London 2012 legacy."
