Open weekend at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre gives the chance to try a variety of free fitness activities

Been thinking about taking more exercise?

Why not visit Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre's open weekend this weekend - Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th July - for free taster classes and fitness sessions.

Activities will take place from 9am till 5pm at the Centre, at Garon Park, Eastern Avenue, Southend, to suit all ages and stages from mothers and toddlers, to families with children, to friends and work colleagues.

On offer will be free gym inductions where friendly gym staff will discuss fitness goals, show the equipment, and devise personalised programmes for people.

There will also be fitness and aqua classes, diving, tennis, street dance, cheerleading and trampolining, inflatable swimming sessions, martial art tasters, skin consultations, and much more.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This open weekend is a golden opportunity for people who would like to start taking some more exercise, or to try a new activity, but haven't taken that step yet.

"There are many in that position, who may just need a little extra encouragement to find out what is available or to explore a new activity.

"We hope as many people as possible will pop into the centre this weekend, where they will find a warm welcome, plenty of encouragement, and hopefully the impetus to carry on with their chosen fitness pursuit."
