Hurry down to Southend Pier this summer for some extra special events as well as the chance to stroll along a world famous landmark!

On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July, the iconic attraction is hosting Jazz on the Walkway from 12noon till 3pm.

This features music from top jazzmen, Digby Fairweather's Big Four - Digby Fairweather himself, Julian Marc Stringle, Paul Sealey and Mark Easner.

They will be installed on the Walkway to entertain everyone visiting the Pier.

Then the hugely popular Puppet Festival takes place on the Pier from Friday 5th August to Sunday 7th August, from 11am till 5pm each day.

Favourite puppeteers from across the country will be arriving to give performances to residents and visitors at different locations along the Pier.

They will offer different types of Punch and Judy shows among other puppet excitements, and will be stationed near the Visitor Information Centre at the Pier entrances, part way along the Pier and at the sea end of the Pier too.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "Southend boasts the world's longest pleasure pier - which continues to be a magnetic attraction for residents and visitors.

"It is especially exciting to discover what terrific events are taking place there this summer, so we hope lots of people will take the opportunity to come and experience top quality entertainment, suitable for all the family, at no extra cost other than the regular Pier admission charges."
