A special summer pavilion assembled by local young people is being launched in Cluny Square, Southend, on Friday 12th August.
The intriguing structure will host a month-long series of community events arranged in conjunction with Connexions, the newly-formed St Luke's Youth Community Challenge, and local youth organisations.
This pavilion has been designed by architects Sarah Considine and Melanie Bax as part of a project to celebrate the suburbs by helping them create their own cultural identity.
It is delivered in a flat-pack style format to be constructed by non-skilled volunteers, and, once in place, can be used as a venue for a whole variety of activities.
Following the opening ceremony at 6pm on Friday conducted by the Worshipful the Mayor of Southend, Councillor David Norman, a wide range of events will be held in the pavilion for the rest of the summer.
