Meet the brand new clean, green, all electric super street sweeper.
This energy-saving and virtually silent device has just arrived in Southend to help the town keep up its award-winning five star cleanliness status.
As well as sweeping the streets, it keeps the air cleaner too, as has zero emissions and saves the equivalent carbon output of 40 cars.
It operates on lithium batteries which can work for up to eight hours at a time.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Councillor Tony Cox said: "This new sweeper is an excellently environmentally friendly addition to our fleet of street cleansing vehicles.
"It will be ideal to help keep our pedestrian areas clean without disturbing residents and visitors with noise or fumes.
Earlier this year we achieved top national standards in street-scene cleanliness, but we must now ensure that we continue to meet and beat these demanding targets."
