The 2010 local election count took place on Friday 7th May.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council retires in thirds. There are 17 wards and one councillor was up for election in each. Lib Dem Cllr Brian Smith retired from Blenheim Park ward and Conservative Cllr Daphne White retired from Thorpe ward.
The main headlines to note are that the Conservatives retain control over the Council with 27 seats, having gained seats in Kursaal and St Lukes and the Lib Dems increased their share of the Council to 12 seats having gained Westborough.
The Independents remain on seven seats having gained in Thorpe Ward and lost in Westborough Ward, and Labour fell from six to four seats having lost St Luke's and Kursaal ward to the Conservatives.
