Exciting ‘Boot Camp’ fitness sessions are now under way every Sunday from 10am till 11am at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre.
These are held outdoors for mixed groups of around 20 people, and provide an all-over body workout.
Sessions - which are suitable for novice exercisers and fitness enthusiasts alike - involve a warm-up, bodyweight exercises, running, stretching, relays and a warm down.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "By providing a mixture of exercises and cardiovascular training, a good boot camp session will work the heart and lungs, and give almost every muscle in the body a work-out.
"This is another excellent fitness opportunity."
Boot Camps cost £5 per session for non-members, £4.50 for category A/B Advantage Card holders, and just £2.50 for those with category C/D Advantage Cards.
As all the Boot Camps are held outside, participants are advised to dress appropriately for the time of year, and bring water with them.
