Are you planning to tie the knot but can’t decide on a venue to host the biggest day of your lives? Well look no further!
Porters - the Mayor of Southend's official residence - is one of the most photogenic and impressive wedding venues in Essex.
And next month you can take a tour of the beautiful 16th Century house and its splendid gardens - thanks to Southend-on-Sea Borough Council.
The Council's Registration Service is staging a FREE Wedding Open Day at Porters on Saturday 1st October from 11am until 4pm.
Visitors will be able to sample the delightful gardens at Porters and the historic house's oak-panelled drawing room.
They will also be able to discuss their plans for the big day with a whole range of local wedding service providers offering photography, bridal wear, catering, cakes and flowers.
There will also be the chance to learn more about how the Registration Service can help directly with your wedding.
These include providing wedding stationery, flowers from the Council's Parks Department and catering services from Edwards and Ward, the firm which runs Charters, the Civic Centre restaurant.
Porters is a hidden gem which offers a unique opportunity to celebrate your special occasion in style, right in the heart of Southend.
You can make your vows in the most tranquil of surroundings before enjoying a personal ceremony amongst the fine antique furniture of a dining room which seats up to 50 guests.
Weddings at Porters are held subject to availability. For more information contact Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Registration Services on 01702-215009.
Andrew Moring, Executive Councillor for Corporate Support Services, said: "Porters is a fantastic venue for a wedding.
"The Council recently spent more than a quarter of a million pounds refurbishing this historic building, which really is a jewel in the Borough's crown.
"The gardens at Porters are beautiful and together with the historic building provide the most splendid backdrop for any wedding.
"The forthcoming Wedding Open Day will put couples who plan to exchange vows in the near future directly in touch with local wedding service providers - and it's free."
