A special event on Thursday 6th October is designed to help young people with special educational needs, face the future with confidence.
This Transition Fayre at Southend Civic Centre from 12:30pm till 5pm, has been arranged to help young people aged 14 and above, as they prepare to leave school, or change care services.
Representatives of a whole range of services will be on hand to answer questions from young people, their parents and carers.
Among the groups attending will be Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Children with Disabilities Team, Adult Learning Disability Team, Physical and Sensory Impairment Team, Special Educational Needs Team Family Information Service, Parent Partnership Service, Transport, colleges, and many more.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Children and Learning, Councillor Mark Flewitt said: "This is a very important opportunity to help smooth the path towards the future for young people and their families.
"It can be a challenging time with the prospect of moving to a new school or college, or a different care service, so we hope this event will help allay some of the fears linked with the transition towards adulthood.
"The Fayre was a huge success when we launched it for the first time last year, and this year's has already proved so popular that families from outside the borough have asked permission to attend."
