Southend's new City Beach will be lit up with a grand lighting and firework display

As the nights draw in, a breathtaking new light show can be seen on Southend seafront.

From 7pm on Saturday nights up until Saturday 5th November, the stunning lights will flood Southend's new £multi million City Beach area, with colour, shapes, and abstract video art.

This is the first opportunity to see these iconic lights - launched earlier this year - being used to their full potential, and the hour-long presentation will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display from 8pm.

The lights herald a host of additional attractions throughout the autumn.

This coming weekend, from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October, legendary singer, Cleo Laine, headlines the star-studded first Jazz at the Palace Festival, hosted by Digby Fairweather.

The popular Pier Ghost Trains run on Saturday 22nd, Saturday 29th October and Saturday 5th November from 6.30pm offering spooky fun for all the family.

Then, on Saturday 19th November the grand Christmas lights switch-on takes place in Southend Town Centre with entertainment and seasonal activities throughout the day.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This has been an incredible year for events and festivals, and this outstanding autumn line-up should help continue this success for the arts and our tourism businesses.

"The new lighting scheme at City Beach provides a wonderful ambience, helping people enjoy this space throughout the year, and I hope visitors will come to see the lights in full flow on Saturdays."
