Come and try Olympics legacy project.

A new Olympic legacy sports project kicks off this week at Shoeburyness Youth Centre, to help get teenagers active in the lead up to and after London 2012.

It is a free programme supported by Connexions, Positive Futures, Shoeburyness High School and Southend-on-Sea's Legacy 2012.

The project, called 'Come and Try', offers young people aged thirteen and over the opportunity to get involved with a number of activities.

Fully qualified and dedicated tutors will help young people get up and moving with fitness machines, street dance and 'Street 20' cricket.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This is really positive opportunity for young people to take advantage of. Hosting the Olympics is a privilege, so it's important that people get into the spirit of the event and support it.

"It also provides the chance for our young people to get active and get involved."

Sessions will be held between 7pm to 8pm every Friday for six weeks, beginning on Friday 28th October and ending Friday 2nd December.
