Try water sports for free!

Published Thursday 8th April 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Fed up of just dipping your toe in the water? Too frightened to take the plunge? Well why not push the boat out for a change?

Southend Marine Activities Centre is giving people the chance to try out a range of different water sports on Saturday 17th April - and it's all for free!

The centre on Eastern Esplanade, Southend, is hosting free taster sessions in kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, jet skiing, rowing and kite surfing from 12 noon to 5pm.

Roy Peirse, Chief Instructor at the centre on Southend seafront, said: "This is a terrific opportunity for people to have a go at a variety of waterborne pursuits.

"Open days like this are very popular and are available to anyone aged from nine-years-old upwards.

"They give people an introduction to the thrill and exhilaration of water sports as well as demonstrating some of what can be learned at our huge range of popular courses.

"We have fully qualified instructors and tuition can be given at various levels from absolute beginner upwards."

Anyone wanting to take part in one of the free taster sessions should bring a swimsuit, towel and some old trainers which won't suffer too much from getting wet.
