Southend’s competitive spirit is evoked this December as Pier Pressure arrives.
Set against the historic backdrop of Southend's world famous Pier, Pier Pressure is going to be like something never seen anywhere else before.
Organised by Cycle Southend, Pier Pressure consists of a heroic climb up Pier Hill, Southend, with a mixture of timed races, team sprints, but most of all: fun.
Don't let the intense name fool you; Pier Pressure is all about getting involved and getting back on your bike.
It's not all about the strongest, the fastest or the most experienced, but the taking part that counts.
With categories for all ages and abilities there will be plenty of winners and prizes worth pedalling for. Entrees are even invited to don fancy dress, or ride a silly bike.
Companies, businesses and organisations are particularly encouraged to put their cycling skills to the test by expressing their interest and registering in teams of four.
So on your marks, get set, and go as the activities kick off on Sunday 11th December, from 12 noon till 4pm.
It is essential to book for this event, with registration closing on Wednesday 30th November, or when all spaces are filled. To register, please telephone 01702 215338, or email: cyclesouthend@southend.gov.uk
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Councillor Tony Cox said: "This is a really exciting challenge, so we hope as many people as possible will join up for fun and field a team."
