A new Sure Start Children’s Centre at is being formally opened by Southend’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sally Carr, on Thursday 3rd November
The Prince Avenue Children and Family Centre, offers health and family support services for all children aged 0 to five in the Prittlewell and St Laurence areas.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Children and Learning Councillor Mark Flewitt said: "This Children's Centre gives vital help and support to families and children from their earliest years.
"It is an excellent community resource, which will continue to consult local people about the services which will best suit them."
The new Centre joins the network of other Children's Centres in Southend, delivering coordinated multi-agency services to young children and their families.
It was developed in partnership with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Prince Avenue Primary and Nursery School, and was specifically designed to support the community's needs.
To make sure it continues to do this, feedback from ongoing consultations will play a vital role in determining future child and family services there.
The new Centre is part of an initiative to ensure that every child has the best start in life, and will provide access to high quality seamless health and advisory services under one roof.

· Crèche facilities, play and early learning for babies and toddlers, family learning, family cooking.

Headteacher William Hill said: "Everyone associated with Prince Avenue is delighted with this fantastic new facility. It will allow us to provide the very best service for all children and families in the area.
"The Governing Body of the School has always recognised the importance of serving the community in the wider sense.
"With the addition of the Children and Family Centre, together with the extension to the school, we now have a building with the space and resources that every community deserves."
