WANTED: Your old bicycle!

If you have an old bike you don't use anymore, whatever the condition - even if you think it's destined for the scrap heap - then you can free up some space, do a good deed, and donate it to the Centre in Brunel Road, off Progress Road, Eastwood.  

Volunteers and fully-qualified Cytech technicians will inject it with a new lease of life, giving it a full service, before selling it on at low cost for someone else to love.  

Donating your unwanted bike means you can do something good for the planet, as well as helping someone who can't afford to buy a new bike to get out, get pedalling and get healthy.  

The programme is currently so popular that bikes are often snapped up as soon as they are restored.  

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Councillor Tony Cox, said: "It's really important that people donate their old unwanted bicycles to help others, help the environment and aid the growth of the project.  

"The more bicycles we can renovate, the more riders we can get on the road to take advantage of all our fantastic cycle routes. Cycling is a great way of getting around town, while getting fit."
