Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre is to launch its first swimming sessions for disabled children, every other Sunday from January 2012.
Working alongside Short Breaks Services, these sessions aim to provide enjoyment and fitness to families who have a disabled child and to use all the fantastic facilities the centre has to offer.
The first session will be from 10am till 12pm on Sunday 29th January will cost £5 per family, with a maximum of two adults and two children per family.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This is a marvellous opportunity for disabled children to get some exercise, and most importantly, have fun.
"The sessions were arranged in response to requests by parents for more family events. The idea is that the whole family can swim together and meet other families with disabled children.
"They will have exclusive use of one pool but can also use all the other facilities at the centre."
