Industrial action – November 30th

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has taken all necessary steps to mitigate the impact of planned industrial action by a significant number of trade unions on Wednesday 30th November.
Chief Executive Rob Tinlin said: "The Council fully respects the rights of its employees to take part in industrial action.
"However, we must strive to protect front line services for our most vulnerable residents and every effort has been made to minimise the disruption this action will cause to them.
"It is not possible to say exactly how our other services will be affected on the day but we will keep the public fully informed of developments."
Discussions have taken place with the unions locally to ascertain how front line services can be safeguarded on 30th November and exemptions sought from strike action for some staff groups.
Senior officers have assessed the likely impact of the strike action within their individual service areas, including assessing which buildings - if any - may have to close.
It is likely that some of schools will close on the day and details of closures will be posted on the Council's website at http://www.southend.gov.uk/
This may affect Council services if staff members who have child care responsibilities are unable to make alternative arrangements.
