Find out about Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s winter plans, and how to check and improve your cold weather preparations.
The Council has arranged a drop-in session this Thursday 15th December from 1pm till 4pm in the first floor foyer of Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend, giving details of:
· the Council's winter service arrangements
· advice about helping elderly, disabled or vulnerable residents during bad weather
· where the grit bins are to help residents clear snow
· advanced weather information systems
Council officers will be available to answer questions and give helpful advice.
The Council's Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Councillor Tony Cox said: "We urge residents to think ahead to make sure they are ready to cope if the weather suddenly deteriorates.
"This drop-in session will be a very handy way for people to gain advice and information. However, for those unable to attend, details are available on the Council's website: http://www.southend.gov.uk/winter
"We would especially remind everyone to keep an extra watchful eye on elderly, disabled and vulnerable neighbours, in the event of severe weather.
"At these times we also advise residents to refer to the Council's website to keep abreast of school closures and any other changes."
