A course of free swimming lessons starts at Southend Swimming and Diving Centre in January

Can’t swim?

Book now for the chance to learn for free next year, during a special eight-week course at Southend Swimming and Diving Centre!

This wonderful offer is part of the national Big Splash scheme to encourage more people to swim, and is open to men and women beginner swimmers of all ages.

The half-hour sessions take place from 8pm till 8:30pm every Tuesday from 17th January until Tuesday 6th March, at the Centre, at Garon Park, off Eastern Avenue, Southend.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "We would encourage everyone no matter their age or ability to learn to swim for fitness, health and safety.

"It is an extremely good way of exercising, and this offer is a chance for first time swimmers to learn for free in the best environment possible with qualified instructors.

"This is such a terrific opportunity, that we would urge people to book early for their places on the course, as spaces are limited.

"Supported by Southend-on-Sea's Legacy 2012, this is the first of a number of free swimming opportunities lined up for 2012."
