Why not have a go at fencing – one of the original Olympic sports.
There is a special free offer every Wednesday starting on Wednesday 11th January, to try fencing, under the supervision of qualified coaches from Southend Seaxe Fencing Club.
Sessions take place from 8:30pm till 10pm at St Saviour's Church Hall, behind St Saviour's Church, Kings Road, Westcliff, SS0 BLS, and are open to anyone aged 16 and over.
This opportunity is supported by Southend-on-Sea's Legacy 2012 and Activesouthend.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This is an excellent chance for people to experience an alternative sport, which dates back to the early days of the Olympics.
"We hope residents will make use of this exceptional opportunity. Fencing exercises the body and the mind."
Those interested in taking part should contact Roger Thompson of Southend Seaxe Fencing Club on 01702 337608 or email: info@southend-seaxe.org.uk
