International pianist entertains

Residents and visitors will be able to see an internationally-renowned concert pianist in action in Southend on Friday 20th January.
James Lisney launches the spectacular new season in the well-established Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Concert Series.
He will perform from 8pm at the Plaza Centre, Plaza Centre (Southend Christian Fellowship Centre), 600 Southchurch Road, Southend on Sea, SS1 2PT
With many recordings to his name, James performs widely across the UK, and abroad, both as a chamber music player, soloist and concerto soloist.
He appears regularly at the Royal Festival Hall Future recitals include performing in Brussels and Berlin this spring, in addition to recordings and broadcasts.
His concert will include music by Mendelssohn (Songs without Words), Debusy Estampes), Chopin (Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante) and Schubert (Sonata in A).
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis, said: "This concert series, offers an amazing opportunity to see highly professional and very affordable chamber music concerts here in the borough a huge treat!"
Tickets cost from £8.50 to £5 (concert club concession price). Southend Council Concert Club membership costs £7 (£6 concessions) and entitles members to greatly discounted tickets for the whole series.
