The next event in Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s renowned Concert series features a wonderful evening of music for piano duet on Friday 24th February.
The two pianists, Joanna Smith and Roderick Elms both work professionally as performers in London and across the UK.
Joanna Smith grew up in Southend, where she studied locally before attending the Royal College of Music.
She won several awards whilst studying, and now has a busy career both in the UK and abroad, accompanying for concerts, auditions and exams, as well as for masterclasses with some of the world's leading instrumentalists.
Roderick Elms appears in concerts, recordings and broadcasts with most of the UK's major orchestras, as a principal keyboard player and as a soloist.
He has broadcast for the BBC for more than 30 years.
Roderick also has had many of his own works published as a composer.
The duet concert will include several much favourite pieces of piano repertoire Faure Dolly Suite, Brahms Waltzes, and music by Gershwin, York Bowen and Jeffrey Wilson.
The next concert in the series on Friday 23rd March features the amazing Baroque ensemble Red Priest performing by Vivaldi, Corelli and Purcell!
