New swimmers can take the plunge for swimming lessons in Warriors Swim Centre during the holidays.

If you're looking for something to do this summer, then Warriors is a great place to take your children.

If your child has been at the same stage in swimming or has not learnt to swim yet, then the crash course would be a great place to start.

The lessons all follow the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Plan for Swimming. They are made fun and enjoyable while new swimmers learn this life-saving skill.

Also, if your child would like to learn to dive off of the diving board then this opportunity is available in a safe environment. Please note that before learning to dive your child must be able to swim.

For the more experienced swimmers there is the mile swim challenge, when the swimmers will swim the length of the pool 48 times non-stop!

The initiative will take place through out the summer holidays, first week 26th - 30th July,

Second week 2nd - 6th August, Third week 9th - 13th August, Fourth week 16th - 20th August, Fifth week 23rd - 27th August.

Classes begin at 9:00am for non-swimmers, 9:30am for the Swimwell Two Class; also the beginner diving lessons are at 9am & 9:30am in the dive pool. All classes cost £18.50 per week.

The mile swim takes place at 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday 3rd August and Tuesday 17th August. It costs £6.50 and includes a certificate.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "This programme will give kids an opportunity to improve their confidence by having swimming lessons in a safe environment."
