Calling all children and young people aged from seven-years-old upwards who play a musical instrument!
Music for Fun workshops are being held on Thursday 7th June from 10am to 2.45pm and Friday 8th June from 10am to 12.30pm at Southend High School for Girls in Southchurch Boulevard.
These workshops are open to all children and young people who play a musical instrument, regardless of their experience.
Participants will be grouped into three sections - beginners (up to grade one), intermediate (grades two to four), and advanced (grades four and above).
All instruments are included, ranging from strings, woodwind, recorders and brass to percussion, drums, keyboards, piano and guitars.
The young players will learn new music and find out more about their own and other instruments - in addition to having fun making music together and making new friends.
At the end of the Friday morning session the group will give a short, informal concert for family and friends.
The workshops cost £14 for the day and a half session and can be booked online at www.southend.gov.uk/mff by calling 01702-215011 from Monday to Friday between 8.45am and 5.15pm or by post to Cultural Development, Civic Centre, Southend on Sea, SS2 6ER.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis, said: "These workshops are a terrific opportunity to introduce children and young people to the joys of making music together, even if they are at a very early stage on their instrument.
"They can meet new people and learn more about music while having lots of fun.
"The Council has recently been awarded funding by Arts Council England to become a Music Education Hub, and these workshops are just a small part of the borough-wide musical offer to all children and young people."
