Don't let your dog go out unchipped

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council are holding a free microchipping event on Tuesday 16th February at Southchurch Park, in partnership with the Dogs Trust.

Due to a change in the law coming into effect on April 6th 2016, it will become a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped and owners have a responsibility to ensure their details are kept up to date with the microchipping company.

In addition to free microchipping, the event, at Southchurch Park, Shaftesbury Avenue (near the café) from 11am – 3pm, will offer advice on responsible dog ownership and training, nail clipping as well as low cost or free neutering (subject to conditions).

Cllr. David Norman, Executive Councillor for Housing, Planning & Regulatory Services said: “This event showcases the responsibility of dog owners to ensure that their dog is microchipped and they will also be able to receive excellent advice on keeping their dogs in the best condition.”
