Southend is proudly honouring the British Armed Forces past, present and future.
Celebrations begin on Monday 25th June when the Worshipful the Mayor of Southend, Councillor Sally Carr - joined by Veterans of the Armed Services and other dignitaries - raises the ceremonial Armed Forces flag at 10am at Southend Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend.
Then on Saturday 30th June, a spectacular Armed Forces Day event called 'Southend Salutes' is being held from 10am till 4pm in Southend High Street and along City Beach.
A military parade of members of the past and current and serving forces will form up ready to set off from Tylers Avenue, Southend at 10:45am, to march to Victoria Circus for an open air service at around 11am.
Among the other activities will be stalls from various local Veterans associations and cadet units, military vehicles, climbing walls and much more!
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "These events around Armed Forces Day are a marvellous opportunity for people to pay tribute to members of the Armed Services for their gallant service.
"We hope as many people as possible will go along to show their support."
