Polonaise on the Pier

Dynamic dual dance events take place in Southend and its twin town of Sopot in Poland this Saturday 14th July at exactly the same time.
This Polonaise extravaganza from 1:30pm until 3pm simultaneously on Southend Pier and Sopot Pier is part of Southend-on-Sea Polish Arts festival
There will be various performances of different styles of Polish dance, not only from professionals, but also with schoolchildren from around the area joining in.
The Polish Arts Festival also features a wide variety of different Polish and Eastern European Arts as well as dance.
There will be accordion playing, film festivals, poetry and visual art.
These forms of art are extremely popular around Europe, and are sure to be a big hit in Southend.
Among these is an exhibition on the Pier of the works of sculptor Robert Sobociński, which was launched by the Worshipful the Mayor Southend, Councillor Sally Carr, and runs until Sunday 2nd September.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Councilor Derek Jarvis said: "We are delighted to host the Polish Arts Festival again demonstrating our strong links with Poland, and the huge array of artistic talent - such as Robert Sobocinski's sculptures.
"This is a unique exhibition that I am sure will be enjoyed by residents and visitors."
"I also look forward to other aspects of the festival such as the traditional Polish dancing, which should not only be an insight into a culture, but fun for all the family as well."
Other major dates for Southend Polish Arts Festival include:
On Saturday 1st September & Sunday 2nd September on City Beach, Southend there will be an accordion playing marathon from 12pm until 4:30pm with lots of spectacular talent on show.
