Tall Ships drop anchor in Southend!

Published Wednesday 7th July 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Southend prepares to welcome some unique ships over the coming months.

The tall ship 'Atlantis' will be at Southend Pier from Friday 9th July until Monday 12th July 2010, and the tall ship 'Artemis' will be at the Pier from Friday 17th September until Monday 20th September.

There will be opportunities to go sailing on the magnificent ships as well as the chance to go onboard and have a look around during 'open ship'. These types of vessels attract a large number of visitors everywhere they go.

The ships also attract many visitors to the world's longest pleasure Pier for the first time, who then come back and have another look at the wonderful historical structure.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Deputy Leader, Councillor John Lamb said: "Having the ships come to Southend is always a big talking point in the town and they obviously attract lots of families and ship enthusiasts."

Tickets cost £35 for this extremely rare opportunity to sail out to sea on one of these magnificent ships, which have been preserved beautifully. For further details please contact the Visitor Information Centre on 01702-618747, or go to http://www.visitsouthend.co.uk/ or VIC@southend.gov.uk

Have a good trip!
