Road closures – Olympic mountain biking event

Temporary road closures and 'no stopping' zones for Hadleigh Farm Olympic event.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council will temporarily close a number of roads and introduce ‘no stopping’ zones next weekend to allow for the Olympic mountain biking event at Hadleigh Farm.

 

 

Large crowds are expected to attend the mountain biking event, which takes place on

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August.

For reasons of public safety the following roads will be closed:

  • Belton Way West - from its junction with Marine Parade to its junction with the Leigh Marshes Access Road - between 8am on Saturday to 6.30pm on Sunday
  • Leigh-on-Sea Station - the short stay area west of the station forecourt and from the south kerb line of Belton Way West to its junction with the station forecourt - between 10am on Friday 10th August and 2pm on Monday 13th August
  • Leigh-on-Sea Station - the station forecourt area including all its splitter islands - between 10am on Friday 10th August and 2pm on Monday 13th August

The following roads will be subject to 'no stopping (parking)' orders:

  • A13 London Road (both sides) - from its junction with Thames Drive/Sutherland Boulevard west to the borough boundary - between 8am on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday
  • Marine Parade (both sides) - from its junction with Hadleigh Road to its junction with Thames Drive - between 8am on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday
  • Thames Drive (both sides) - from its junction with Marine Parade to its junction with the A13 London Road - between 8am on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday
  • Belton Way East (both sides) - from its junction with Belton Way West to its junction with Marine Parade - between 8am on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday
  • Belton Way West - from its junction with Marine Parade to its junction with the Leigh Marshes Access Road - between 8am on Saturday and 6.30pm on Sunday

Vehicles belonging to Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust, St John Ambulance, HM Coast Guard and the RNLI are not affected by the temporary road closures or 'no stopping' zones.
