Everyone from four years old upwards is being encouraged to learn to swim via the Aquazone scheme at Shoeburyness Leisure Centre.
These most enjoyable sessions take place every Friday from 4pm to 6pm at the Centre in Delaware Road, Shoeburyness.
Aquazone is Parkwood Leisure's swimming lesson programme, which operates in partnership with the Amateur Swimming Association's National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
Lessons costing £4 each are to be paid per school term in advance, and the programme offers tuition for children and adults on a group or one-to-one basis.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Derek Jarvis said: "The Aquazone programme is an excellent way for people - whatever their age or ability - to learn to swim and have fun whilst doing so.
"Swimming is a life skill which everyone should have the opportunity to master in their lifetime."
Residents are also advised that they can use the Advantage Card obtainable from Southend-On-Sea Borough Council at the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend.
