Punch & Judy set to have Southend in stitches

Published Friday 9th July 10 in Council - news and information releases news

Puppets galore will be popping up on Southend Pier in August.

Original Punch & Judy shows, marionettes and glove puppets will be entertaining families from 11am until 5pm on Friday 6th August until Sunday 8th August inclusive.

This annual Puppet Festival is much-loved by residents and visitors. The original Punch & Judy shows will help parents or grandparents re-live their childhood memories and introduce kids to a true classic. As well as this rare experience there will be plenty of other puppets to keep them amused, as well as a children's entertainer who will be making novelty balloons.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Enterprise , Tourism and Regeneration, Councillor Ian Robertson said: "The loveable pair of Punch and Judy are an historic partnership of many years, so this is an excellent opportunity to see them in action. These and the other puppet shows on offer will help bring people flocking to the town, so if you would like to see lots of puppets in action then hurry to the Pier from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th August between 11am and 5pm. Usual Pier admission prices apply, but the shows are free to watch."
