Southend Youth Council’s ‘On Your Bike’ event in Priory Park brought young cyclists flocking!
The initiative was organised jointly with Cycle Southend to promote cycling for young people - and highlight the importance of cycle safety.
Attractions like the 'Northshore track' provided by Cycle Southend, and an obstacle course were on offer, along with bike tagging and a 'bike doctor', to undertake bike checks.
During the proceedings, two 40 minute bike rides were staged around Southend. These followed a route through the centre of Southend on cycle paths, starting and finishing in Priory Park.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Children and Learning, Councillor James Courtenay said: ""My thanks to Southend Youth Council for organising this fun and practical event, to encourage our young people to cycle safely.
"It was a huge success, with 60 people attending and more than 50 bikes being checked and tagged."
