Want to cycle, but worried about how to do so safety?
Why not take advantage of Cycle Southend's forthcoming Adult Bikeability course.
This is especially for people who can cycle, but need a few hints and tips to help them ride on the road with confidence
The course runs on Saturday 13th October and Saturday 20th October from 9:30am until 12:30pm, starting at the Bandstand in Priory Park, Victoria Avenue, Southend.
It is subsidised by Cycle Southend and so costs just £10 - similar courses elsewhere are £25 per hour.
If you would like to take part, please visit http://www.cyclesouthend.co.uk/ to book your place
All cyclists are also invited to join the special Be Bright, Be Seen ride from Southend Pier to Leigh Old Town on Friday 26th October.
This starts at the Pier at 7pm and participants are urged to come along dressed in bright fluorescent clothing with lots of lights!
The first five cyclists to arrive will receive a week's free pass to LA Fitness in Wakering Road, while all the other riders will be given a one day pass!
This event is free and there is no need to book.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Executive Councillor for Public Protection, Waste and Transport, Councillor Tony Cox said: "Cycle safety is of paramount importance, so this course will offer people expert guidance to develop their confidence and help them become safer cyclists.
"The 'Be Bright Be Seen' ride is another marvellous opportunity to encourage safe cycling through a fun event."
